46 Years Supporting Manufacturers with Adhesive Tape Solutions
This year marks 46 years since Tangent Self Adhesive Ltd was founded in 1980 by Mike Sibley.
What began as a small family business has grown steadily over the decades into a trusted partner for manufacturers and customers requiring reliable adhesive bonding solutions. Throughout that time, Tangent has remained focused on one core area: double coated (double-sided) pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes and converting solutions for industrial applications.
Working closely with leading material manufacturers, the business has developed long-standing relationships with key supply partners and today remains the UK’s largest stockist of Avery Dennison performance tapes.
Today, Tangent supports manufacturers across a wide range of sectors including aerospace, automotive, defence, electronics, medical devices, industrial manufacturing and specialist product assembly, as well as signage, graphics, print and display industries. Each application brings its own technical requirements, and selecting the correct adhesive solution is often critical to achieving reliable long-term performance.
Over more than four decades the manufacturing landscape has evolved significantly. Materials, processes and applications have changed, but one principle has remained constant: helping manufacturers find practical and reliable ways to bond components within their products.
With 46 years of converting and application experience, Tangent continues to support manufacturers in selecting the most appropriate adhesive solutions for their materials, production processes and end-use environments.
Over this time the company has navigated multiple economic cycles while maintaining a strong and stable financial foundation. Tangent remains privately owned and family managed, with founder Mike Sibley still actively involved alongside the next generation. Adam and Gavin Sibley continue to build on the experience and values established over many years, working closely with the wider Tangent team to ensure the business remains focused on long-term relationships and technical expertise.
Another point of pride for the company is the long-term relationships built with both employees and customers. Many members of the Tangent team have been with the company for decades, with two colleagues, Pat and Peter, having each served more than 35 years with the business. Likewise, many customers have worked closely with Tangent for over 20 years, reflecting the collaborative and supportive culture that has developed within the company.
After 46 years, Tangent continues to focus on what it has always done best: working with manufacturers and distribution partners to provide high-quality adhesive tapes, technical expertise and precision converting solutions tailored to specific applications.
